Welcome to the Twilight Zone

Or maybe just Fond du Lac, WI.

Today Monkey and I went to EAA. Wow, that place is awesome! I am going to take him back when the snow is all gone and they have displays outside. If you like aviation, that is the place to go. They even had little games for the kids to play! We had a good time and probably could have spent a few more hours there but we were hungry.

We stopped at Crapplebee’s in Fond du Lac to eat because Monkey had won a free kids meal at school. We finally got seated and our waiter seemed fine. He took our order promptly and we got our food in a reasonable amount of time. Of course when we got our food, it was all wrong. Monkey ordered a kids chicken tender meal and I ordered a wrap. When it came, Monkey got an adult portioned chicken strip meal and my wrap was a salad? I told the lady that I ordered a wrap so they basically just dumped the salad into a tortilla and called it good. I’m cool with that. Monkey ended up getting his adult portion for the kid price. Then our dessert was sort of jacked up. He didn’t bring the wrong stuff, it just took him too long to bring half of my dessert and the spoons we needed to eat our dessert. Not the best service that’s for sure.

While waiting for our food, I saw something rather interesting. A lady sitting across from us was wearing fur lined Crocs with no socks? Uhm, I know they had fur lining but it is winter. In Wisconsin. Her oddities did not stop there, she also put two packets of Sweet N’ Low in her Sprite! I was totally sicked out by that. Sprite is pretty sweet all on its own and if you want that nasty artificial taste, get some diet soda. I guess she was just an odd duck.

On the way home, we had to stop and get gas. I pull up and went to insert my debit card to pay at the pump. Much to my dismay, it was covered in duct tape. Apparently they have had several drive offs and pay at the pump is not available during business hours. WTF? I had to go inside to pay and guess what? The two people in front of me were tools. Straight off the Snap-On truck! The first girl clearly could not work the credit card machine. I think she had to try 3x to make it work. The next lady could NOT figure out which pump was hers. It was quite obnoxious. It took her 5min to figure that out and then she did it. She wrote a freakin’ check to pay for her gas. Who in the hell pays by check for anything these days? Even the cashier rolled his eyes at her!

Needless to say, while in Fond  du Lac, I felt like I had walked into another dimension. It was just weird there today. I used to live there and I don’t remember it being so… different. Hmm? Maybe it was just an off day or something.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

T.G.I.F.!

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Today is Friday and I could not be happier. I have a very exciting weekend planned with Monkey.

Tomorrow we are going to the EAA museum up in Osh Kosh. We have never been and Monkey loves planes. It was his idea to go of course. He asked me right away on Monday if we could go this weekend so of course we are going. He doesn’t ask all that often to do something that specific.

Sunday will be filled with fun things such as, grocery shopping, laundry, and of course homework. Oh and a meeting for football next year.

Have a great weekend! I am off to FCP II lab where I get to learn/practice wound care. Luckily it will be on a fake man or woman. I don’t think I could handle seeing and smelling a real wound at 9am. Actually, I would be sicked out at any hour of the day.

There Really Can Be Too Much Of A Good Thing

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

I love my son and bless his heart, he does not want anyone to smell his poo. This is good and sometimes bad. He seems to think that if he sprays 10x the recommended amount of  poo smell hider, no one will know what he has done. Sadly, my apartment is small and the smell of the poo hider is more noxious than anything. I have yet to decide if smelling the poo would just be better than the hider? Hmm?

In this case, too much of a good thing is rather bad. Oh and he would KILL me if he knew I posted this on my site :)

Bowling IS Fun!!

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

Tonight I went bowling with my son, Mike, Sadie, and her boyfriend. It really was a good time. None of us are all that great at it. In fact, a 3yr old beat us. Granted, he had bumpers up but he totally beat us!! It was hilarious though, watching a child that young toss a ball weighing about 1/3 of what he does down the lane.

Oh and it was cosmic bowling too. I sort of have a headache from the lights whirling around n’ stuff.

Now I’m off to bed. I am so tired and I have a big day tomorrow!

How Crazy Is This?

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

I just took Monkey to rent a video game, which I never do, and it was $7.32 with tax for 5 days!! That is freakin’ insane if you ask me. They are selling games 2 for $15! I guess that is why I never take him to rent the things and we probably won’t be returning to do so anytime in the near future. EEK!!

Back to reading about contraception, birth control, and all the other fun stuff that goes along with it. I’ve already gotten the heebie jeebies from reading all about STI’s, how you get them, the high risk behaviors etc. Good gawd was that a disgusting read. I cannot wait to take Monkey sledding later and take a break from all this awesome reading I have to do. Why am I reading this you ask, because I have a 30 question ‘quiz’ over the material tomorrow. Oh joy!! I could not be any more excited than I am right now, typing this :)

I Can Be So Productive Sometimes!

Friday, January 25th, 2008

I am getting so much done today! By noon I already had half of the items on my list crossed off. Now I am baking some yummy cookies for my awesome Fish watching friend Dave.

Did I tell you that my laundry was stacked a good 3-4 feet high in my hallway? Yeah, not kidding. Monkey and I were joking that we should try and stack it to the ceiling. That’s what happens when you come back from vacation and go straight back to school. Whoops! I assure you my laundry is getting done as I type. Please do not call child protective services, the rest of my house is up to snuff ;)

I got my extern application all finished and mailed out, my checkbook balanced (yikes), laundry is rolling, got some groceries, and now I have a shit ton more to get done. I don’t think it will end until….well maybe things will slow in May. Of course I plan on working full time this summer. I still think working is way easier than going to school, but that’s just my opinion.

At Monkey’s request we will be making some root beer this evening after dinner. For dinner, homemade chili. Yummers! That was also Monkey’s idea. Have you ever made root beer? It really is a cool process and it tastes pretty good too. I got him a kit 2 years ago for Christmas. Yeah, we’ve used it once. I guess we are due to make some more :)

Well that was totally scatter brained and a mess of words!!

My Lil Ray O Sunshine

Friday, January 11th, 2008

I looked at my calendar and said to Monkey, “I’m getting nervous!” He said, “Just don’t do what Nikki Six did. Don’t go to any heroin parties. He went, passed out, and then some guy tried to beat him to life with a baseball bat. When he didn’t come to life, he threw him in the dumpster.” I asked him how he knew and he said that he read it on Wikipedia when he was looking for Nikki Six to see what his role was in the group Montley Crue. I told him I would do my best to avoid the heroin parties…. just for him!

When Monkey is passionate about something, and lately that would be old school rock bands, he gets to know all about it. Kind of crazy how smart he is about the things he loves (and many others). Of course that is one of the zillion and one things I really love about him.

Guns N’ Roses

Monday, January 7th, 2008

I guess I had forgotten how, uhm, girlie the 80’s rock bands were. Big hair, tight pants, and some make up. I loves me some Guns N’ Roses and now Monkey is all about them as well. This morning he went to VH1.com to watch this video:

I about died when I saw how girlie Axl Rose was! Oh and his dance moves are simply to die for. I especially like all the hand gestures. I HATE when singers act out their songs! It is terrible! HAHA! Enjoy a blast from the past, yo.

Sledding

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

I took my son and his friend sledding today. It was a good time. I did get to make one trip down the hill. I think I might drag Mike out with us tomorrow :)

On a side note. I just want to know what is up with some parents. After we had been there for about an hour, a crap ton of people showed up and then there will like a zillion and one kids flying every which way down the hill. Anyway. My son and his friend were standing at the bottom of the hill chatting when a girl on a saucer smacked into them. Her parents right away were ragging on my son and his friend for standing there. I SO badly wanted to say, “Well, DAD, if you hadn’t whipped your child down the hill as she was begging you NOT to, maybe she wouldn’t have hit the two kids at the bottom like that.” It just pisses me off when parents get all stupid like that. Oh and the mom had the nerve to meet my two boys at the top and say, “It probably isn’t very smart to stand at the bottom of the hill with your backs turned.” Yeah, right after that I told them we were leaving because people were being pushy and rude. Seriously, WTF? They are KIDS for shit sake and your husband, being the asshat he is, threw you child down the hill while she was screaming, “DAD, WHY DID YOU DO THAT?”

Let the kids have some fun and mind your own p’s and q’s!! UGH! I did tell Monkey and his friend they shouldn’t stand in the middle of the hill, but it was after the beotch already called them stupid. Gotta love all that positive parenting!

My Child is Naughty!

Friday, December 28th, 2007

I just let my son go to his friends house and he walks because it is literally up the hill from our house. I make him wear his snow boots, gloves, and he put his hood on.  As I watch him walk away, I see him pull his hood down and shove his gloves in his pockets!! What a little punk!! UGH! I guess he’s growing up and it’s not ‘cool’ to be warm? Kids!! I loves him anyway, but he won’t be much fun if he gets all sick n’ stuff  :) Being cool is way more important though when you’re 10.
