Spammers!

Friday, June 20th, 2008

I guess I need to start posting some actual stuff on here. All the spam comments are starting to creep through and it makes me angry! I hate reading stupid comments from people that are trying to sell either themselves or some other crap.

Life. Life has been good as of late. I am loving every minute of my job. I have learned SO much in just two short week. I think I am going to love being a nurse! It really is a tough job, but the patients are worth it. I have yet to meet a patient that makes me crazy. I’m sure that moment is coming. I think I will have to be a nurse for a few years before I get jaded….at least I hope. Actually, I hope I am never jaded. I have seen some interesting stuff thus far and feel as though that will continue throughout my summer. One thing is for sure, I will be the master of hanging piggyback IV bags and programming pumps :D

I have a FAST (Red Cross First Aid Service Team) event this weekend and that should be fun. I haven’t seen much action where that is concerned, but am pretty sure I will be a master of the band aids by the end of summer.

Monkey is playing baseball and loving it. He is doing really well for his first season. He is also in summer school and pretty excited about his CSI class. I guess at the end of summer school they get to solve a ‘real’ case. He was all excited last week because they lifted fingerprints with cocoa powder. I love him!

I guess that is the long and short of it. Mike and I are busy doing stuff the weekends we don’t have our babies and when we have our babies, we are busy spending time with them!!

Oh and I am SO happy we finally got some warm weather up in this hizzy!!

Pads for something?

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Today my Monkey told me that the girls at school go the ‘puberty’ talk. He said they were given deodorant and pads for something. It really was cute! I would love to share his photo will the 6 of you that read this, but you already know how adorable he is. Anyway, I just thought the complete innocence in his comment was awesome. My child has my heart, can you tell?

He is very anxious for the boys to get the talk. He said he heard that the boys get condoms. His response? “I won’t be needing those until I’m done with college!” There, now I have it in cyber writing and on the exact day he spoke those words to me!! Precious. If only I believed it. I know he does…for now. How great though, he plans on attending college and waiting until he is married to have sex. I hope he succeeds at both but I’m a realist.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. And I will try and do better writing. I guess I’m just busy, yet find nothing super to blog about.

80’s flashback

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

So I went to Wal*Mart to pick up a few things and Monkey said he wanted to look at the CDs. I obliged of course because I love music too. Well, I ended up buying two CDs. I have not bought a CD in forever. The cool part, Monkey loves him some 80’s hair band music and of course….Michael Jackson.

I purchased the 25th anniversary CD of the Thriller album and it came with a DVD. We are currently watching the Thriller video short. Yup, pretty sweet!! Monkey is totally rockin’ out right now :) I also purchased Poison’s greatest hits for him. Yeah, I know. What can I say, he has taste? I think it is pretty cool that he enjoys the music that I listened to at his age.

And now this……

You know you love it!

Sweet boys gave me a flower!

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Monkey and his friend went to the store to get some snacks and they came back and gave me a tulip that they found on the sidewalk :) It is quite nice and it smells good too! I just thought it was super sweet of them to bring me back a flower.

Carry on.

Why I hate shopping

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

Today I took Monkey shopping for some clothes. It was fun and he is pretty easy to shop for. He isn’t too picky just yet. Anyway. We shop for him and then he says, “Mom, you should totally get some stuff.” Silly me.

I go to Aeropostle or whatever it is called and try some stuff one. What a freakin’ JOKE!! They really do have some cute stuff, but it is apparently made for anorexic, no boob havin’ 12 year old girls. I am not huge by any means, but good grief. I tried on two shirts, both medium and the first one was so tight around my arms and chest I could hardly breath. Good grief was all I could think. My arms are not much bigger than my 10 year old child’s (yes, I have wimpy arms) and my chest isn’t ginormous or anything. In fact, I’m quite small around. I digress. The second shirt I tried on was one of those, “Hey, I look prego, but I’m not” kind of shirts. It was cute so I thought I would give it a whirl. Uhm, yeah. The elastic that was supposed to go below the girls, poked my girls’ eyes out :( I guess if you’re a medium, you should be an A or barely a B. If only I could have my pre baby sized girls back. Anyway. I actually laughed out loud when I tried it on. Nothing ever fits me right on top. I dunno why, but it just doesn’t work out for me. I can wear tank tops and t-shirts, but that’s about it. Anything low-cut, off the shoulder, etc. does not work for me. Oh well. I kind of like to leave a little to the imagination anyhow.

After clothes shopping, I had to pick up a few essentials at Wal*Mart. You know what drives me insane? People in the self check lanes. I always use them because I can scan my stuff much faster than the cashiers and I don’t have to make small talk or get pissed when my cashier is rude. Today the woman behind me was a wee bit overzealous. She was all up in my business while I was checking out. She was unloading her shit while I was trying to finish paying. It just annoys the piss out of me. I wanted to say, could you wait your turn? You are seriously invading my space!! The register belts are not as long as a normal check out, so when someone starts unloading while you’re still there, it is quite invasive. And those are just a few of the reasons I HATE shopping!!

Comb club

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

First rule about comb club. Don’t talk about comb club.

Those are Monkey’s famous words. He received his switchblade combs in the mail today and is SO excited. Who would have thought a $3 item could bring so much joy into a little boy’s life?

Politically correct

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

This morning my Monkey asked me when the song Thriller was a hit. I told him I was not sure, but probably in the early 80’s. He then tells me that it is the 25th anniversary, he did the math, and it was in 1983.

A few moments later he says, “I found the video on VH1 and it said 1991. I knew that wasn’t true because he was still black.”

Uhm? I honestly did not know what to say. I was PC  and said, “Monkey, that wasn’t very nice.” On the inside, laughing so hard.

I spilled some blood today

Friday, March 7th, 2008

Okay, so it was more like food colored water.

We are learning how to install IV lines right now. (No, I would never say “install” to a patient, but it sounds kind of fun). Wow, what a challenge! I put on a gown to protect my clothes, but water is much thinner than blood and it went all over the place!! I had a major spurting issue at one point and it went right through my pretty little gown. I guess my arm was a good bleeder. Yup, we just have arms. There is a lot more to putting in an IV than I had ever imagined! I will be practicing a LOT in my spare time.

Also, I have to prepare a presentation for the 5th graders next week. I am speaking in my son’s classroom. He so lovingly volunteered his ol’ mom to talk about the human body. Should be a good time. I just afraid of boring them to death. Hmm?

Not much exciting happening here this week. They are still talking about Brett Favre on the radio. That hasn’t gotten hold…..riiiiiight.

Welcome to the Twilight Zone

Or maybe just Fond du Lac, WI.

Today Monkey and I went to EAA. Wow, that place is awesome! I am going to take him back when the snow is all gone and they have displays outside. If you like aviation, that is the place to go. They even had little games for the kids to play! We had a good time and probably could have spent a few more hours there but we were hungry.

We stopped at Crapplebee’s in Fond du Lac to eat because Monkey had won a free kids meal at school. We finally got seated and our waiter seemed fine. He took our order promptly and we got our food in a reasonable amount of time. Of course when we got our food, it was all wrong. Monkey ordered a kids chicken tender meal and I ordered a wrap. When it came, Monkey got an adult portioned chicken strip meal and my wrap was a salad? I told the lady that I ordered a wrap so they basically just dumped the salad into a tortilla and called it good. I’m cool with that. Monkey ended up getting his adult portion for the kid price. Then our dessert was sort of jacked up. He didn’t bring the wrong stuff, it just took him too long to bring half of my dessert and the spoons we needed to eat our dessert. Not the best service that’s for sure.

While waiting for our food, I saw something rather interesting. A lady sitting across from us was wearing fur lined Crocs with no socks? Uhm, I know they had fur lining but it is winter. In Wisconsin. Her oddities did not stop there, she also put two packets of Sweet N’ Low in her Sprite! I was totally sicked out by that. Sprite is pretty sweet all on its own and if you want that nasty artificial taste, get some diet soda. I guess she was just an odd duck.

On the way home, we had to stop and get gas. I pull up and went to insert my debit card to pay at the pump. Much to my dismay, it was covered in duct tape. Apparently they have had several drive offs and pay at the pump is not available during business hours. WTF? I had to go inside to pay and guess what? The two people in front of me were tools. Straight off the Snap-On truck! The first girl clearly could not work the credit card machine. I think she had to try 3x to make it work. The next lady could NOT figure out which pump was hers. It was quite obnoxious. It took her 5min to figure that out and then she did it. She wrote a freakin’ check to pay for her gas. Who in the hell pays by check for anything these days? Even the cashier rolled his eyes at her!

Needless to say, while in Fond  du Lac, I felt like I had walked into another dimension. It was just weird there today. I used to live there and I don’t remember it being so… different. Hmm? Maybe it was just an off day or something.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

T.G.I.F.!

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Today is Friday and I could not be happier. I have a very exciting weekend planned with Monkey.

Tomorrow we are going to the EAA museum up in Osh Kosh. We have never been and Monkey loves planes. It was his idea to go of course. He asked me right away on Monday if we could go this weekend so of course we are going. He doesn’t ask all that often to do something that specific.

Sunday will be filled with fun things such as, grocery shopping, laundry, and of course homework. Oh and a meeting for football next year.

Have a great weekend! I am off to FCP II lab where I get to learn/practice wound care. Luckily it will be on a fake man or woman. I don’t think I could handle seeing and smelling a real wound at 9am. Actually, I would be sicked out at any hour of the day.
