Your Life Is Passing You By

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Have you ever wondered why some people cannot let shit go? Yeah, me too!! I often wonder why some people put forth such a huge effort to try and figure out what is going on in someone else’s life. Just seems like they would be much happier in their own lives if they put that much effort into their life and stopped worrying about someone else’s.

Call me crazy, but I would rather focus on the people I love than people who don’t care about me or what I’m doing. Hmm?

And that was a not so deep thought by me, T. Lee.

20 Questions

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

OM! I absolutely LOVE this little hand held game. I purchased it for my son and it freaks me out. If you haven’t played, you really should. You think of an item, answer 20 questions, and then the game guesses what you were thinking. I have yet to stump the silly thing. I do usually make it ask me 25 questions but it is crazy. I played the music one last year and it was pretty cool as well.

For under $10, I will be entertained for weeks. I know, I’m easily amused.

I Must Be Crazy [Update]

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Today I am going to take Monkey out shopping. He must use his gift cards today. He cannot possibly wait. Oh well. Maybe I’ll find some good deals on some…well…yeah, I’m not really shopping for anything. I have no clue what I might find, but sometimes that is the best way to shop.

Yesterday was a good day. Watching Monkey open his gifts was so fun. He was extremely thankful for each and every gift he received this year. Guitar Hero III has been the biggest hit of course. He is loving it and he is really good at it! I must say, there is some good music on this one. We also went and saw a movie in the afternoon. Last year was the first time we had done that and we really enjoyed it so we decided to do it again :) We saw National Treasure: Book of Secrets. It was a good movie! Of course, I loves me some Nicholas Cage. It was a good as the first one and maybe even better.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and was able to spend it with friends and family like I was.

Update: I got nothing! Not a single, solitary item!! I am saving my cash for London/Paris!!

Sure is Cold Out [Updated]

Monday, December 24th, 2007

And even colder when you don’t have heat!! UGH!! Last night the boiler in the building decided it didn’t want to work. I started making calls when it miraculously started working again. That was pretty short lives as I woke up with icicles on my nose :( I called right away this morning and the guy said he would be here ‘pretty quick’ but that was about an hour and a half ago. It seems as thought the heat is starting to work right now, but that won’t last. Man, why does this stuff happen on the coldest days thus far AND on Christmas Eve?

Hope everyone else is staying warm in their houses!!

Update:

The man from the heating place did come shortly after I finished  typing. I have to say, it is kind of disturbing to watch them ‘work’ because it seems like he didn’t really know what was wrong. Anyway. He is, however, coming back to put a pressure switch on the boiler for us so we should have heat by midday! OH and the apartment lady told me to get our energy company out here. Whoops! I had to act quickly because we have no heat and they charged $200 for the first hour for labor only! I sure hope the local guy isn’t going to charge us that much. I guess I didn’t ask because it doesn’t really matter at this point. I don’t want to freeze to death and I have to make sure everyone else has heat too!

My First Day For Real

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

Today was my first day working for real at my new office. I just have to say, everyone there is awesome. I really like the all the people I have met so far. Oh and I felt like such a big girl using the change machine and encoding all my own checks!!

Have a Merry Christmas!!

U.S. Post Office and Now I Know Why

Friday, December 21st, 2007

Today I shipped my mom’s gift to her and what a pain in my ass!! First of all, I didn’t have a box. I thought, no big deal, they have those priority boxes. Uh huh and they are great if you are sending a peanut wrapped in poop. No clue where that just came from. Anyway. I had to send her her cookies and the stupid Rubbermaid I bought was sort of largeish. I tried my damnedest to shove it in the $8.95, flat rate priority box, but there would be none of that.

Frustrated, I said to the lady behind the counter, “This is the biggest box you have, isn’t it?” Of course it is!! Why would you have anything larger. Oh, because people maybe want to ship more than a poop covered peanut!! UGH! (There was something else I had to try and shove in the box, but I cannot say because then my mom won’t be surprised when she opens her box).

The lady tells me they have boxes I can purchase. Well neither of those really fit, but the lady said, “What if you tip the Rubbermaid on its side?” It fit like that, but Lord only knows what her cookies are going to look like. In fact, the lady said, “They’re going to get messed up anyway.” NICE!! Glad to hear they ‘handle with care’ these days.

We finally get the box taped up and I ask, “How much will it cost to send this priority?” She says, “A lot!” I said, “Well I appreciate your honesty.” Crazy thing about that, it actually only cost me .58 more to purchase a larger box and pay the priority postage than it cost for that stupid flat rate box. Now that makes a lot of sense?

Yup, now I know why people bitch about and don’t use the U.S.P.S!! They don’t use it because it is way expensive, slow, and they ruin your shit and don’t think twice about it!! I think next year I’ll go to the UPS store in the next town over.

The 80’s Are Back

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Or at least they are in BD, WI!

While at Wal*Mart, I saw a woman wearing leg warmers and black pumps with her jeans!! I really wish I was kidding, but not so much. It was a tad scary actually. Partially because it is only 32 degrees outside and mostly because she looked ridiculous!! She was also wearing what looked like it used to be a blanket for a shirt. It was one of those blankets that you would have at your cabin up north or something. It was white..ish and had black duck type birds all over it. The only thing missing was the side pony!!!

Now I have to bust out MY black pumps to wear! UGH! I hate how unfashionable I am. Oh and you can purchase leg warmers at your local Target!!

Santa Came to Visit Yesterday!

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Yesterday I was the designated picture taker at work. It was really fun listening to the kids tell Santa what they wanted this year. And of course we had a few that wouldn’t even take a step NEAR Santa without the tears, shakes, or simply clinging like crazy to mom. Makes me laugh when kids get scared of Santa because in a few years, they will think Santa is the shiznit!!

I also have an embarrassing story from yesterday. I wasn’t terribly embarrassed, more like confused at the end of the ‘transaction.’ I walked into work while talking on my cell phone. I had to change my clothes because I was coming from school so my arms were full with clothes, purse, and phone. Now, I have only been to my new office, well that was my 3rd time. I haven’t had the best chance to really look around. Anyway. Sadie had told me how awesome the women’s bathroom was. I am not paying any attention at all and walk into the bathroom and shut the door. I’m talking on the phone while changing, hang up, use the bathroom, and then gather all my stuff to walk out and start work. I open the door and there stands Sadie ready to take my picture. I was thinking, odd, but whatever. She says, “So is the women’s bathroom as big as you thought?” I said, “No.” and right when I said that I realized I was in the MENS room. Whoops! Oh well. Everyone got a good laugh and it’s a one seater so it wasn’t a big deal. I sort of felt like an ass because I didn’t bother to read the sign next to the door? That’s my embarrassing moment for yesterday. That and I was apparently driving, for who knows how long, dragging a hanger under my car :( I think I’m more embarrassed about that!!

This Is Going to Be Harder Than I Thought!!

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

I was all excited to be done with school for an entire month and I am, but I am really having a hard time relaxing here. I wanted nothing more than to come home and chill for the night. Yeah, I feel like I should be doing something and I’m going to be hurting tomorrow because I’m not. Crazy how you get so used to a routine of crazy that when things slow down, you’re all discombobulated!!

I am, however, going to catch up on some fun reading! Oh how I miss reading anything other than a textbook :D

And I am DONE for the semester!! I am so excited. Now comes the miserable part…waiting for grades to be posted. They all promise to have them up right away, but it never really happens.

I will spend the majority of my evening learning about the GI system and of course reviewing the million and one other things we have learned. Tomorrow is patho and then I am out!
