How Not Professional
Friday, November 30th, 2007As all of you know, I’m a nursing student. A big part of the program is professionalism. Awesome! I think you have to be a professional to be in a profession…duh. Well then can someone please, please tell me how professional it is for an instructor to hand a student her professionally written paper back with coffee spilled on it? Hmm? Call me crazy, but that shit is not professional!
Here is the story. I had to write a nursing process paper, all professional etc. Great. Did I mention this paper has to go into my professional portfolio for school? (Don’t get me started on how retarded that is) So I ask myself, “How in the hell can I put a paper with coffee spilled on it into my portfolio?” Lemme answer that, I CAN’T!! I had to ask the teacher to grade a ‘fresh’ paper. I mean, that shit has MY name on it and I’m not going to look like a douche handing in a shit upon paper. UGH!!
Another little morsel of her professionalism. When she looked at my paper, she says, “Oh I must have had it at the nurses’ station and someone spilled on it.” Seriously? She loses professionalism points for not taking responsibility for her actions. If she was not the one who spilled, she was still the person responsible for my paper.
I know it seems really silly to bitch about something like this, but we work SO freakin’ hard and then to have someone shit on it? Yeah, that pretty much sucks and now I have to do extra work, in all my spare time, because she was irresponsible. It really is the whole principle of the matter. Ya know?
