Michigan

I took a short trip to Michigan this weekend. I am from MI, for those of you who do not know. I did not go to my true home in MI, but instead stayed in the southern part of the mitten. Most of my family has migrated south over the years. My son and I left Friday morning and set out on our 7.5 hour journey to my friend, Tara’s house.

7.5 hours turned into about 8.5 due to construction and then there was an accident in Chicago. Driving through Chicago is the most fun a girl can ever have. Riiight!! We arrived at Tara’s around 6:30, MI time. Got some pizza and the kids played in the river at the park.

Saturday morning we headed to the family reunion. My dad has 5 siblings and they were all in MI with their spouses and children. Wow, what a group!! A few others showed up and we had about 35 people total show up. Mind you, there wasn’t much in the way of ‘extended’ family!! The ‘extra’ people were siblings of my grandparents and their children. The other 30 were the siblings, their spouses, and the children. Yeah, there are quite a few of us. Good food, good people. We had a wonderful day.

Saturday night I stayed with my brother and his family. He just moved into his new house and it is beautiful!! He built it himself. He owns his own business, SDK Builders, and his home is just fantastic!! I hope he will build my home someday. Anyhow. He had purchases fireworks for the kids so we sat outside for awhile Saturday night and shot off fireworks with the kids. That was a great time for everyone.

Sunday we headed home. Man, what a long drive when there is construction every 5 miles. I should know better, but yeah. UGH! I cannot stand the way people in Illinois drive. Do these people have the same licensing procedure that other states have? I almost slammed into someone’s back end because a tow truck just pulled off the side of the road and we all had to cram on our breaks. Yeah, I had to swerve or slam into that car. It was great!! Not too much later, I got honked at my job jackass driving his huge motor home towing a truck. I had to try and merge into his lane, but he kept speeding up. I finally passed him JUST in time for my lane to end. Asshole honked at ME! I was like, YOU are driving like an ASSHOLE and maybe you should slow your shit down so people can actually go around you. UGH!!

I think my son heard more swear words leave my mouth on our trip home than he has his whole life. I think I have road rage?
